Thousands of individuals start new online businesses every day. Some of them started out because they believed the hype that you can make thousands of dollars within a week. Of course, if you've been in the business for more than a few days you realize that this isn't true. An Internet business requires work and perseverance.
Your business will do best if you develop several sources of revenue. In other words, don't put all of your eggs in one basket. There are thousands of ways to make money online. You are best served if you use a variety of different money making techniques. In the financial world, this is known as diversification. Certain types of businesses do better at different times. By diversifying, you will have other sources of income to make up for the one that is lagging and you can more easily weather financial downturns.
One good business model to have part of your business in is tiered programs. A tiered program is one that pays you money that you earn. And pays you a percentage of what those you have referred earn. There are many tiered programs available that will pay you through several layers of referrals.
I am involved in one program that pays me 10% of what those below me earn. It may not seem like a lot, but I have almost ninety people in that program. It's like having 9 people work for me and give me 100% of what they earn. That's one the keys to making money in tiered programs. Develop a strategy that you can stay with for a long period of time and bring a large number of people into the program. I use ads on my site for this purpose and they work very well.
By diversifying into a number of different money making programs, you can more easily weather financial downturns. This allows your income to remain relatively stable when the economy weakens. If you diversify into a number of different areas, a financial downturn in one or two areas won't hurt you too bad financially.
